Tennis Anyone? Here’s Your Guide to the 2025 Mubadala Citi DC Open

This year’s Mubadala Citi DC Open will take place from July 19 through July 27. The event is the only combined Association of Tennis Professionals and Women’s Tennis Association 500 tournament in the world.

The Mubadala Citi DC Open has been held annually in Rock Creek Park since its founding. Past champions include big names like Venus and Serena Williams, Andy Roddick, and Martina Navratilova. A portion of the proceeds from the event benefit the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation. If you’re looking to attend this year’s event, check out our guide on the venue, how to get there, tickets, and what players to watch.

How to Get There

Driving

The tournament will be played at the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center, located at 5220 16th St. NW. There is limited parking onsite in a grass field (Lot B) at the center and it is advised to check the official tournament app, website, or social media to confirm daily parking availability. If there is inclement weather, the National Park Service will close the grass fields to preserve the park.

If onsite parking isn’t available, guests should not park in the surrounding neighborhood. Nonresident cars will be ticketed and towed.

Offsite parking garages have not been announced yet. Near the front of Lot A, there will be dedicated accessible parking spots. Guests should make sure they have their proper ID visible for staff to guide them to the correct space.

There are also plans for a shuttle bus; information will be announced soon.

Rideshare

If you prefer to use a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft, facilities will be located on the grounds of the Carter Barron Amphitheater, next to the amphitheater’s box office. Rideshare drivers are going to be directed to the Carter Barron Amphitheater Box Office Access Road (the entrance is located at 4850 Colorado Ave., NW). Due to the tournament being played in a residential neighborhood, rideshares can only drop off and pick up along the Box Office Access Road.

Metro Bus

The Metro buses that are closest to the tournament are the S2, S4, and S9 (express) that drop off at 16th Street and Colorado Avenue. The buses can be picked up from Metro stations like McPherson Square, Federal Triangle, and Metro Center. Exit the bus at the Carter Barron Park and Ride Lot to access the tournament.

Venue Info

The Rock Creek Park Tennis Center is a permanent stadium with a capacity of 7,500. Outside of the Mubadala Citi DC Open, it serves as the year-round home of the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation.

If you’re interested in sitting in sections that have covered seating, the North covered boxed seats and stadium pavilion are your two options, along with the hospitality suites.

The stadium is handicap accessible, with four handicap-seating areas in the lower level of the stadium. There are also wheelchair-accessible restrooms and ramps around the stadium.

Tickets

Sessions for the Mubadala Citi DC Open tend to sell out, so it’s advised to purchase tickets in advance. The box office is located at the main entrance of the site, which is closest to the grass lot. Children ages 2 and under do not need a ticket and must sit in a lap.

To learn about accessible seating options, guests are recommended to contact a ticket representative at [email protected] or call 202-721-9500.

Your tickets you purchase will guarantee a reserved seat in the stadium and access to all the outer courts. Outer court seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

If there are still box seats available that haven’t been sold as a package for the whole week, they will be available to buy on a single-session basis. Single-session reserved and single-session box seats are sold through the event website and at the on-site box office.

Times

On qualifying weekend, the gates at Rock Creek Tennis Center will open at 9:30 a.m. For main draw, Monday through Thursday, gates open at 10:30 a.m. Finally, for Friday through Championship Sunday, gates will open at 11:30 a.m. On July 25 and 26, those who have tickets to sessions eight and 10 later in the day will be asked to enter at 4 p.m.

Bag Policy

There is a clear bag policy for the Mubadala Citi DC Open. Lockers will be available at the front of the stadium if you end up needing to store a bag before entering the venue.

Who Should You Watch?

There will be seven Top 10 players and five Grand Slam Champions at the tournament. Here are a few noteworthy players to watch:

  • 2020 U.S. Open Champion Naomi Osaka, 27, has been ranked as the world number one in women’s singles by the Women’s Tennis Association for 25 weeks.
  • According to the Association of Tennis Professionals, 2024 U.S. Open Finalist Taylor Fritz, 27, has a career-high singles ranking of world number four.
  • DC Native and World Number 12 Frances Tiafoe, 27, reached a career high at world number 10 in singles in June 2023, marking him the first Sierra Leonean American man to be ranked in the top 10 by the Association of Tennis Professionals.
  • 2024 U.S. Open Finalist Jessica Pegula, 31, has had a career-high ranking in singles of world number three and in doubles, world number one. Pegula reached the final of the 2022 French Open partnering with Coco Gauff.
