Summer can make you feel nostalgic for the past. Luckily, there are multiple movies celebrating big anniversaries this year, and with that comes special summer rereleases to commemorate the milestones. Here are six films getting the rerelease treatment at local theaters in June and July.
Dogma: Resurrected! A 25th Anniversary Celebration

Alamo Drafthouse in Crystal City is hosting a 25th anniversary celebration for the 1999 movie Dogma, about two fallen angels who find themselves banished in Wisconsin and head for New Jersey in an attempt to return to heaven. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
June 14, 15, and 18
The 1989 classic starring Harrison Ford and Sean Connery is back in theaters for three days only. The Steven Spielberg–directed film about the explorer Indiana Jones and his adventure to rescue his father, who vanished while searching for the Holy Grail, is showing in the afternoon and early evening on June 14, 15, and 18 at local AMC Theatres, Cinemark Theatres, and Regal Cinemas. Brokeback Mountain
June 22 and 25
Brokeback Mountain is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and will be rereleased for a limited engagement on June 22 and 25. The movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal and the late Heath Ledger grossed over $178 million worldwide on a budget of just $14 million. Clueless

Miss the 30th anniversary of the classic ‘90s coming-of-age tale? As if! Cher and her Clueless crew are back in theaters June 29 and 30 and local AMC Theatres, Cinemark Theatres, and Regal Cinema locations are hosting screenings at 4 and 7 p.m. Multiple locations
This Is Spinal Tap 41st Anniversary
July 5
Angelika Film Center & Café in the Mosaic District is celebrating 41 years of the Rob Reiner cult classic This Is Spinal Tap. The musical comedy mockumentary tells the story of Spinal Tap, one of the UK’s loudest bands, as documented by fictional director Marty DiBergi, played by Reiner. 2911 District Ave., Fairfax
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest 50th Anniversary
July 13 and 16
The movie starring Jack Nicholson, based on the best-selling novel by Ken Kesey, turns 50 years old this year. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest snagged the top five Oscars (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Adapted Screenplay) in 1976, the first to do so since It Happened One Night in 1934. The movie will be rereleasing in honor of its golden anniversary on July 13 and 16 at local Cinemark, Regal, and AMC Theatres for afternoon and evening showings. Multiple locations
