What to See and Expect at the Loudoun Spring Farm Tour

Dozens of farms will open their doors to guests on May 17 and 18.

The Loudoun Spring Farm Tour, set for May 17 and 18, will feature three dozen local farms, each offering a unique experience for guests. Whether you’re looking to learn about agriculture or taste delicious farm-grown products, here are just a few of the many activities you can do on the tour this spring.

Buy Raw Local Honey at Aurora Apiary

Aurora Apiary in Aldie is family owned and operated with over 25 hives on site. Guests can buy raw local honey made from three different seasonal types and homemade specialty honey products. You can even put on a bee suit and take a guided tour of the apiary for a fee. 23081 Tail Race Rd., Aldie

Visit Therapy Goats at Bully Goat Farm

This 3-acre farm in Lovettsville is home to a bunch of therapy goats that are ready to give snuggles and even participate in goat yoga with the humans who sign up for classes with them. Bully Goat Farm gets its name from the farm’s resident guardian dog, a rambunctious Frenchie named Asher. 11937 Purcell Rd., Lovettsville

Drink Housemade Cider at Henway Cider Barn

Check out apples being pressed in a vintage hand-cranked press and then stay to sip the refreshing results with a glass of fresh apple cider (or seasonal hard cider). The cider pressing experience is free for farm tour guests. 18780 Foggy Bottom Rd., Bluemont

Make Your Own Bouquet at Far Bungalow Farm

This cut-flower farm uses regenerative growing practices. Those who visit on the farm tour can take a guided tour and listen to a flower growing Q&A. There will also be a stem bar to build your own spring bouquet. 42517 Farm Ln., Leesburg

Partake in Strawberries Galore at Wegmeyer Farms

Strawberries here are grown on a raised bed growing system; reservations are required for picking them. Farm tour guests are invited to peek at the field and see how the strawberries are grown, then peruse homemade strawberry baked goods to take home. 38299 Hughesville Rd., Hamilton

Try Fresh Ice Cream at Brookfield Dairy Farm

Visitors here will get to learn all about cows and even enjoy a sweet treat at the end. There will be a 1:30 p.m. milking demonstration both days of the farm tour and the opportunity to tour the barns and see the equipment at the milking house. There will also be kids’ activities and an ice cream trailer serving local creamery ice cream. 18868 Harmony Church Rd., Leesburg

See the full list of farm tour stops on the Loudoun Spring Farm Tour website.
