The 14 Best Things to Do in Northern Virginia and DC in February

If you’re looking to keep yourself entertained through the dog days of winter, try one of these events.

It might be the shortest month of the year, but that just means February will be jam-packed with plenty of fun and can’t-miss events. From hilarious comedians to Broadway shows, here’s what you can look forward to this month.

February 1–2 

Fairfax City Chocolate Lovers Festival 

There’s no better way to kick off the start of the month than with an endless supply of chocolate. The annual festival will feature chocolate tastings, a make-your-own chocolate bar station, and plenty of sweet treats from local vendors. Main Street, Fairfax, free

National Ballet of China: Chinese New Year (A Ballet in Two Acts)  

Chinese culture meets western ballet with the National Ballet of China’s original creation. The dynamic choreography and characters tell the story of a young girl and her family as they celebrate the Chinese New Year, set to Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker score. February 7–9  

Loni Love 

The performance from this electrical engineer turned comedian, actress, and author is one that should not be missed. The former co-host of FOX’s The Real is back on the road to talk all about pop culture. Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse: 2903 Columbia Pk., Arlington, $28  

February 8  

Fairfax Symphony: Love is in the Air 

You’ll be mesmerized by the melodies performed by Boyd Meets Girl. The night promises romance as the duo, made up of a classical guitarist and a cellist, joins the Fairfax Symphony. The program will include Bizet’s “Obsessive Love” selections, Puccini’s “A Mother’s Love” intermezzo, and more. George Mason University’s Center for the Arts: 4373 Mason Pond Dr., Fairfax, $40–$65

February 11–May 4  

In the Heights 

The Tony Award–winning Broadway show by Lin Manuel Miranda is bringing Washington Heights, New York, to Arlington. Immerse yourself in the neighborhood as its dreamers share loss and love and plan for their futures as everyone searches for a life-changing lottery ticket. February 14  

Men Are From Mars — Women Are From Venus Live! 

The off-Broadway hit is back for its 10th anniversary. Inspired by John Gray’s bestselling book, the performance combines theater and stand-up comedy for a show that covers everything from dating to marriage. Capital One Hall: 7750 Capital One Tower Rd., Tysons, $70–$80  

February 14 

WWE Smackdown 

Friday Night SmackDown is coming to DC. Don’t miss your chance to watch WWE champ Cody Rhodes live. Plus, Bianca Belair, Nia Jax, and more are ready to put up a fight like no other. Capital One Arena: 601 F St. NW, Washington, DC, starting at $40 

February 15  

Tom Segura: Come Together

George Washington Birthnight Supper & Ball 

This 78th annual fundraising gala is hosted by the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association and the Neighborhood Friends. The black-tie evening includes a three-course dinner, dancing, and a live auction. George Washington’s Mount Vernon: 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Hwy., Mount Vernon, starting at $750 

February 16  

The Warped Band

February 19  

Billy F. Gibbons 

Known from his time in ZZ Top, guitarist Gibbons is back on tour as a solo artist. The Mallett Brothers Band  

Hailing from Maine, the independent band with a genre-bending sound of rock, Americana, and country has been touring since 2009. Brush up on the song lyrics from the band’s six albums for a memorable night of music. Jammin Java: 227 Maple Ave. E., Vienna, $18–$25  

February 21–June 22 

We Gather at the Edge: Contemporary Quilts by Black Women Artists 

This exhibit, acquired by the Smithsonian in 2023, features the collection of celebrated artist and curator Carolyn Mazloomi. The 35 quilts on display recognize the members of the Women of Color Quilters Network while showcasing Black traditions, history, and culture through textiles. February 24 

JADY
