7 New Year’s Eve Celebrations in NoVA

Skip planning a party and try one of these celebrations instead.

By Bennett Freeze December 26, 2024 at 10:20 am

It’s no small task answering the age-old question: “What are you doing New Year’s Eve?” While planning a New Year’s Eve party at home has its perks, it’s no match for NoVA’s nightlife. From dance parties and bar crawls, skip the planning hassles this year and try one of these celebrations in NoVA on December 31.

007 New Year’s Eve

6:15 p.m.

Diamonds may be forever, but this four-course meal fit for a spy will be available at Trummer’s in Clifton for one night only. Bid 2024 a fond adieu while feasting on delights like grilled octopus, braised pork cheeks, or venison. Finish the meal with a delectable dessert and a glass of bubbly before the ball drops. Reservations are required for this top-secret event; don’t forget to dress to impress. Trummer’s Restaurant: 7134 Main St., Clifton, starting at $148, drinks and gratuity extra

Alexandria New Year’s Eve Bar Crawl

6–9 p.m.

This Old Town Alexandria bar crawl takes the guessing out of finding somewhere to raise a toast on New Year’s Eve. Party-goers receive drink specials at each location of the crawl, as well as waived cover charges, live music, and access to the after-party. Tickets must be booked in advance, and crawl staff are on site throughout the evening. 710 King St., Alexandria, starting at $19.99

Tally Ho New Year’s Party

7 p.m.

While we’re about to welcome 2025, The Reagan Years make it sound like 1985. The Tally Ho Theater has hosted a New Year’s bash with The Reagan Years for nearly a decade, with Totally Bowie opening for the band this year. Rock out to classics ranging from AC/DC to Madonna, Michael Jackson, and The Cure. 19 W. Market St., Leesburg, starting at $30

New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball

7 p.m.–2 a.m.

Dress to the nines for Shipgarten’s third annual masquerade ball. Start the night with a complimentary buffet before dancing to live music from DJ Maskell, a midnight balloon drop, and a Champagne toast. Party with the squad while watching the ball drop live throughout the heated outdoor space. Shipgarten: 7581 Colshire Dr., McLean

A Jazzy New Year

8 p.m.–1 a.m.

A night of jazz, dancing, and a little history await at this New Year’s Eve party. Join the Elby Brass band to ring in 2025. Guests will also be able to explore the History of Jazz exhibit, which showcases the heavy hitters and origins of the genre. Both ticket options include a Champagne toast at midnight and access to the exhibit. Each guest will need a DBIDS pass to enter the base. Clubs at Quantico: 3017 Russell Rd., Quantico, $35-$65

New Year’s at Ometeo

8:30 p.m.–1 a.m.

Bring an appetite and a pair of two-steppin’ shoes to this Tex-Mex New Year’s extravaganza. The whole spread includes everything from tacos and tamales to oysters, empanaditas, chips, and guacamole. Live DJ music, a mariachi band, and a Champagne toast at midnight are provided. 1640 Capital One Dr., Tysons, starting at $65

The Legwarmers: New Year’s Eve Dance Party

9:30 p.m.

Celebrate the end of 2024 by taking it back to the ’80s. Enter the new year with the region’s favorite tribute band and all of the classic hits, like “Summer of ’69” and “Sweet Dreams.” This is a 21-plus show. The State Theatre: 220 N. Washington St., Falls Church, $50
