Northern Virginia’s calendar is crammed with festivals, food, and fun the weekend of June 9–11. The only question is how many weekend events will you pack in?

Provided the air quality improves, you’ll have plenty of choices for outdoor weekend events. Here are just seven weekend events for June 9–11.

Mount Vernon Summerfest

Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10, 6–9 p.m.

Sneak over to George Washington’s estate after-hours for its buzzworthy event of the season. At Summerfest, guests are invited to sample craft beers from more than 30 Virginia breweries, roam the historic grounds, and enjoy live music. This year the sweet crooning of The Fly Birds, a band that plays folk, bluegrass, and Americana music, will entertain the crowd. The diverse drink selection includes historically inspired beers, seltzers, and cocktails. Paid admission comes with eight tasting tickets and a souvenir tasting cup. George Washington’s Mount Vernon: 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Hwy., Mount Vernon, $48 for general public, $40 for members.

Summer Social

Saturday, June 10, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.

Swing by the Farm at Halley Rise where you will find fun for kids and adults alike. Activities include kite decorating, flower arranging, face painting, live music from Moose Jaw Bluegrass, a bug scavenger hunt, and lawn games. Rocklands BBQ food truck will have lunch available for purchase. The Farm at Halley Rise: 2025 Fulton Pl., Reston, free.

Appalachian Trail Festival

Saturday, June 10, 11 a.m.–5 p.m.

At this celebration of the Appalachian Trail, there will be live music, talks from hiking experts, demos (hammock camping and yoga for hikers), and food. The festival will showcase everything from kids’ activities to trail cooking for a wholesome afternoon. 37098 Charles Town Pk., Hillsboro, free

Tinner Hill Music Festival

Saturday, June 10, 11 a.m.–8 p.m.

Celebrating and honoring the African American legacy, this 29th annual music festival in Falls Church is a charity event for the Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation. The 2023 music lineup features Dumpstapunk, Joe Louis Walker, and Rocknoceros among the performers. The festival features more than just music, though: the event is split into six different villages with entertainment. They’ll have the Tinner Hill heritage village, the food village, the kids’ village, the Rock Star village (where you’ll find Solace Brewing Company), the relaxation village, and the artists’ village to ensure there’s something for everyone. Cherry Hill Park: 312 Park Ave., Falls Church, $30 general admission, $10 for students 12 to 22, free for kids under 11

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11, 7–8:30 p.m.

Looking for a fun Shakespearian comedy involving complicated love entanglements and a mischievous fairy? Watch the Fredericksburg Theatre Ensemble’s rendition of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Bring chairs or blankets to enjoy this live outdoor performance on the lawn at Historic Kenmore. 1201 Washington Ave., Fredericksburg, $15 for adults, $7 for children, free for kids under 6
