Date for Opening of Longest Snow Tubing Slope on East Coast Now Known

With an opening date set for February, snow adventurers only have to wait a few more days before taking a ride down the new 900-foot-long hill.

Originally published January 10, 2023. With the holiday season behind us, these next few months are the perfect time to play in the snow, ice skate, and even snow tube. While snow tubing might seem like a far stretch in this area, a resort in West Virginia’s Harpers Ferry is here to save the day.

Snow Riders will offer snow tubing. Opening on February 11, potential riders can purchase tickets in advanced for $34.

All snow tubers will need to be at least 42 inches or taller and 4 years of age to take a ride down the hill.

River Riders Family Adventure Resort, which has offered whitewater rafting, tubing, ziplining, kayaking, and countless other memorable activities to NoVA residents for decades, announced its sister company, Snow Riders, in 2022.

Located next to River Riders, Snow Riders has been building a 16-lane snow tubing hill. Each lane will be 900 feet long, making it the longest tubing slope on the East Coast. What makes this resort all the more fun is the Downhill Disco. Once the sun sets, guests will experience a unique light show with LED lights that change to the beat of the music.

Matt Knott, CEO of River Riders, says this new activity is the perfect winter addition to an already comprehensive resort.

“The process of adding snow tubing in Harpers Ferry has been years in the making,” Knott said. “We want to bring guests to our resort year-round and with the addition to snow tubing, that makes it all possible.”
