From taking a celebratory staycation to finally returning to a movie theater: What We’re Looking Forward To, Nov. 2-8

Bon Appetit
Now that it is November, I have decided to turn my attention to at-home activities instead of going out as we head toward winter. Back during the spring lockdown, I was lucky enough to have some unfinished projects, movies and books lying around to hold me over for those few weeks at home. Now that those are finished, it is time to re-stock. While I will most likely be filling the coming weeks with Christmas crafts and DIY decorations, I also want to try out some new hobbies. While in college, I loved being able to try out new recipes every weekend. So this week, I plan on signing up for an online cooking class with Cozymeal and trying out a delicious new dish. If you are also looking to pick up a new hobby, here are nine other online classes to try at home. – Michele Kettner, editorial assistant

Staying Home, Not at Home
I can’t believe that my Best Restaurants list is finally finished and out in the world! It was a lot of work and I’m ready to celebrate with a little vacation. Not that I have time to go anywhere, so I’m going to hole up for the weekend at a fancy hotel and pretend that I’m traveling. I’ll use this list to help me decide exactly where I’m going, but I’m leaning toward Dupont Circle Hotel so I can try some of their duck confit steamed buns — hopefully as room service! – Alice Levitt, food editor/critic

Watch a Blockbuster
While I have spent many, many (many) hours in front of the TV in the evening since the pandemic began, I have missed seeing movies in person. I especially relished taking an afternoon off when my kids were in day care and I could see a movie all by myself (and not share my popcorn!). It’s harder these days to get out of the house for some alone time, but I may mask up and try and sneak out for an afternoon at one of these theaters. All of them have instituted safety protocols to make sure you can see the latest flick without worry. – Katie Bianco, editor
