History buffs should tune into Ford’s Theatre new virtual programming to commemorate the 155th anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.
Throughout the remainder of the month of April, Ford’s Theatre will offer guided virtual tours of the historic site, as well as webinars and interactive events on Zoom exploring Lincoln’s life during the Civil War in Washington, DC, and the investigation into the assassination conspiracy surrounding his death.
Upcoming events include “Exploring Lincoln in Washington, DC” on Thursday, April 16 at 2 p.m., which explores the places that mattered to Lincoln during his lifetime; and a livestream “Investigation with Detective McDevitt” on Wednesday, April 22 at 1:10 p.m. and Wednesday, May 6 at 11:10 a.m. about Detective James McDevitt, who was on duty the night of the assassination at the Washington Metropolitan Police headquarters, a half-block away from Ford’s Theatre.
The new program also includes web resources with firsthand accounts that delve into the impact of Lincoln’s death on the nation and the vigil that took place on 10th Street on the night of the assassination.
