Hop on your bikes, it’s time to watch BMX races once again in Northern Virginia.

Back in July 2016, USA BMX hosted the Stars and Stripes national BMX tournament, a qualifying event for the 2016 Olympic Games, in Woodbridge. Now, the organization is back to host another national event in August.

The East Coast Nationals will gather competitors and spectators from across the country in Prince William County from Friday, Aug. 14 to Sunday, Aug. 16 this year. The organization decided to return after recent investments were made in track refurbishments and better lighting at the local track (operated and leased by NOVA BMX), and through the continued efforts of Prince William County’s tourism investments.

BMX is a type of off-road bicycle racing that features sprint-style races on dirt and paved tracks. Competitors range from all ages and the sport was brought into the Summer Olympics in 2008.

For more information on the sport and other East Coast races, visit USA BMX. // Northern Virginia BMX: 7 County Complex Court, Woodbridge; prices TBA
