New spots to spend an evening out

Board games at the bar, live music in Manassas and a Vegas-style nightclub are some of the latest area attractions.

BrickHaus
This beer garden takes cues from Germany with its setup and its list of brews: 24 taps with a rotating selection of four German beers, the rest coming from within a 250-mile radius. And the eats? It’s a German-influenced gastropub with bites like beer cheese dip with pretzels from Arlington’s Heidelberg Pastry Shoppe, house-smoked duck breast with duck rilette in a banh mi-style sandwich and Jaegermeister barbecue glaze chicken wings.

Carpool
Game-oriented bar and restaurant Carpool migrated from Arlington to Fair Lakes late last year, adding a new entertainment hotspot to an area largely defined by big-box retail. The facility’s two bars feature 24 taps for visitors to try out while they pick up a game of shuffleboard, Skee-ball or pool.

Club Eclipse
What started as an under-21 club in Gainesville has reworked itself into a space for adults. The brainchild of Max Freidrich, the Vegas-style nightclub offers live music from a resident DJ or a touring band. Comedy shows fill out the schedule and there are ladies nights, happy hours and wine events. There is also a gaming and billiards area and a glow-in-the-dark bar to add to the ambiance.

Farm Brew LIVE
Last October, Manassas welcomed a Wolf-Trap-meets-Port-City in Farm Brew LIVE. The new outdoor entertainment facility sports live music, the 2 Silos Brewing Company, The Pit BBQ and a full-service restaurant called The Black Sheep.

The G.O.A.T. Sports Bar
Sports fans have a new hangout at The G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time), which took over the space of Hard Times in Clarendon. Why a sports fan’s dream? Along with traditional bar eats and drink menus, the forces behind A-Town Bar and Grill, Don Tito and other Arlington establishments have outfitted the space with three viewing areas spread across two floors with 50-plus HD TV’s, three 12-foot TV walls and classic arcade games like Pac-Man, NFL Blitz 2000, Narc, Frogger and Skee-ball.

The Board Room
Gamers, the old-fashioned type, have a place to call home at The Board Room. Opened in the former Sehkraft Brewing spot in Clarendon, this bar puts just as much emphasis on board games as it does with its menu, and there’s a Ms. Peacock’s Champagne Lounge to boot. The Board Room falls under the Bedrock Bars parent company, which has a second Board Room location in D.C.

Verre Wine Bar
Located on the bottom level of the Courthouse Hyatt Place, Verre Wine Bar is already getting rave reviews from those who have popped into the 1,300-square-foot space that delivers a roster of wines that pair well with their menu focusing on small plates, charcuterie boards and brushettas.

Wilson Hardware
You will find screwdrivers at Wilson Hardware, but not the kind you may be thinking of. The new Arlington nightspot attempts to elevate the local bar experience with a few upscale menu items and a sleek interior—including five spaces in which to swill your beverage.
