Many of Northern Virginia’s regional parks offer scenic hikes, boating, campgrounds and rich history. Many also offer reasonably priced cabin rentals from late spring into early fall. These cabins are ideal for families with small children and those who prefer to have air conditioning and a hot shower after a full day of outdoor activities. From historically significant, rustic cabins to luxury riverfront properties that can house up to 10 guests and come equipped with hot tubs and flat-screen TVs, there’s nearby summer lodging available for every taste.

Algonkian Regional Park

The cabins within this park boast an assortment of nearby activities, including a golf course and water park within walking distance. The cabins are situated on the Potomac River and come with central heat and air conditioning, gas fireplaces and spacious and fully equipped kitchens. There are also four deluxe cabins in the camp that offer Jacuzzi hot tubs. A two-night minimum stay is required in order to reserve a cabin. // 47001 Fairway Drive, Sterling; for more information you can call 703-450-4655 or send an email to [email protected]

Bull Run Regional Park

There are nine cabins available to rent year-round at Bull Run Regional Park in Centreville. They are equipped with heating, air conditioning, a double bed, a set of bunk beds, a couch and futon, minifridge and microwave as well as a grill, fire pit and tables both indoors and outdoors. There are two bathhouses within walking distance that offer laundry services, hot showers and toilets. If you forget something at home, there’s a convenience store on-site that sells basic supplies in addition to firewood and snack foods. // 7700 Bull Run Drive, Centreville; for more information you can call the park’s customer service line at 886-881-0929 or reserve a cabin online

Pohick Bay Regional Park

Pohick Bay Regional Park currently offers two types of cabins. The first deluxe cabin comes with a private bathroom, bedroom, heating and air conditioning, a small kitchen area, running water and all amenities for up to six people save for linens. The rustic cabins are similarly equipped with electricity and a basic kitchen area but only have two rooms and no private bathroom. All of the cabins are within a short walking distance of Pirate’s Cove Waterpark and a nearby boat marina. Pets are not allowed in either the deluxe or rustic cabins. // 6501 Pohick Bay Drive, Lorton; for more information call 703-339-6104

Prince William Forest Park

Fans of historical sites can rent cabins in Prince William Forest Park’s World War II-era camp. The camp is notably one of only four cabin camps listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It contains two types of cabins that can house up to six and 10 people, respectively. Each cabin comes with beds, electricity, fans and a grill, but keep in mind that there are no electrical outlets, private bathrooms or pets allowed. // 18170 Park Entrance Road, Triangle; for more information call 703-221-7181
