The Reston Players have a special performance planned for the conclusion of their matinee showing of Les Misérables on Jan. 26. Twenty talented local youths will take the stage and perform four songs, showing what a future cast could look like in 2035.
The play had its 25th anniversary in 2010, but producers felt it would be fun to host a concert speculating on what the future cast could be.
“We thought we would offer our audiences a treat by introducing some of our young candidates for a 50th anniversary concert.” said producer Richard E. Schneider.
Many of the 20 children who will be performing in this encore performance are the same ones who auditioned for one of the three children’s roles available in Les Misérables.
This encore performance will include four songs. The first song will be the Act 1 finale, “One More Day.” Following that, Cossette (Miranda Schnoor) will sing, “Castle on a Cloud.” The third song will feature Inspector Javert (Braeden Anderson) in “Little People.” The encore ends the same was as the play with the big finale of “Do You Hear the People Sing?”
“It is truly exciting to hear the talent of these young people,” said Encore Director Dana Van Slyke. “They are just as passionate about the music of Les Misérables as the adults.”
DCMetro Theatre Arts gave Reston Players’ performance of Les Misérables 5 stars. “Reston Players’ exquisite and brilliant production of the epic Les Misérables, directed passionately by Andrew JM Regiec, is a shining example of what a small theatre can produce with a talented cast, designers, musicians, and a fine director.”
The Reston Stage Players enjoyed a sold-out opening weekend and excellent ticket sales for the remaining shows, allowing the run to be extended an additional weekend until Feb. 15.
While the production is extended, the only chance to catch a glimpse of a possible future Les Misérables cast will be the matinee show on Jan. 26, so get your tickets now.
