Barnes & Noble to Open New Gainesville Location in February

The bookstore chain is expanding its reach in Prince William County by adding its third storefront.

By Michele Kettner January 3, 2025 at 10:23 am

Bookstores are back in a big way. Barnes & Noble’s new Gainesville location will officially be opening its doors on February 12.

The date is set nearly a year after the chain announced it would be adding the new location. It will be the third Barnes & Noble store to open in Northern Virginia and DC over the last three months, with Manassas and Georgetown reopening stores to great fanfare.

Heading to The Shops at Stonewall, the new bookstore will be located between Michaels and Ross. The store will be just under 18,000 square feet, taking over about half the retail space used by the previous occupant, Bed Bath & Beyond — which also opens the possibility of another store coming to the shopping center in the future.

Inside the space, book lovers will notice the new design features seen at recent Barnes & Noble openings, including lighter wall and floor colors and wider aisles. Although there are plenty of new aspects, you’ll also find a lot of familiar features, too, like an updated B&N Cafe, books curated by the store’s booksellers, toys, games, and gifts.

The store has yet to announce any events for its grand opening, but guests that visit that day can expect a ribbon cutting.

After the grand opening, the store will be open Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Mondays through Saturday ,sfrom 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. 8135 Stonewall Shops Sq., Ste. 405-B, Gainesville
