Alexandria Old Town Art Festival Returns for 22nd Year

Now’s your chance to pick out a new work of art for your home.

By Maggie Roth September 13, 2024 at 8:32 am

Alexandria’s John Carlyle Square will be awash with art this weekend as the Alexandria Old Town Art Festival presents its 22nd annual event. The open-air festival will offer art lovers a chance to peruse works from over 150 exhibitors.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on September 14 and 15. It will be in John Carlyle Square, at 300 John Carlyle St. in Alexandria.

All of the art at the festival is juried, which aims to provide “a higher level of quality, diversity, and creativity of art on display,” according to the event description. Visitors can expect to see a wide range of art forms and styles, from jewelry to photography to abstract paintings.

One returning exhibitor to look forward to is the Art League, which will present its ice cream bowl fundraiser. For $15, shoppers can select a handmade ceramic bowl, crafted by a member of the Art League, and they’ll receive an ice cream treat to go with it.

To get a sneak peek of the art, an online Look Book displays sample works from the exhibiting artists.

The Alexandria Old Town Art Festival is hosted by Howard Alan Events, which operates similar events around the country.
