The Beaufort Bonnet Company, an upscale children’s clothing store, opened in Mosaic District on Friday. The shop sells adorable apparel for babies and girls and boys.

“Our mission is to make people happy. Our precious knits are perfect for play, and our classic silhouettes with darling details are perfect for dress up. Childhood is special, and we believe children should dress like children,” said Markey Hutchinson, CEO and founder.

Asked who the shop’s ideal shopper would be, Hutchinson said, “She loves the quality and the sweetness of our classic silhouettes and darling designs. She is drawn to The Beaufort Bonnet Company because of our commitment to classic, traditional, and vintage-prep styles. She wants to make babyhood and childhood sweet for her little ones. She believes in celebrating both special occasions and the little moments because she knows they become big.”

While the store has opened, the Beaufort Bonnet Company plans to hold a grand opening on Saturday, March 23. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. It plans to have an “Buy More, Save More” promotion running March 5–7 in store and online.

Inside the 1,344-square-foot shop, notice that the design embraces patriotic colors and motifs.

“The beautiful seating area was designed in collaboration with Lauren Deloach, an Atlanta-based interior designer using a variety of patterns and textures that lend to the timeless but fresh style,” said Hutchinson.

Kids will have fun exploring the miniature colonial house in the back of the store. It has a playhouse, kitchen, and Lego wall.

This is the Beaufort Bonnet Company’s first store in NoVA, although its line of clothing is sold at The Purple Goose in Alexandria and Lemoncello in Arlington.

Hutchinson started the lifestyle clothing brand after she received a beautifully packaged pink and white gingham bonnet from a friend. At the time, Hutchinson was expecting. Her daughter would go to wear the bonnet everywhere. After receiving numerous compliments about the gift from a fellow mother, Hutchinson went on to purchase the heirloom bonnet pattern and crafted her vision for the lifestyle brand.
