Here Are 10 Local Shops to Support on Small Business Saturday

As you start your holiday shopping, make sure to browse the region’s small businesses for unique gift selections.

By Kate Oczypok November 22, 2022 at 3:51 pm

Saturday, November 26, marks “Small Business Saturday.” If you’re looking to participate in the annual shopping holiday, consider supporting these 10 local small businesses — just a few of the many places in Northern Virginia where you can shop small this season.

Undeniable Boutique

Undeniable Boutique is the must-shop spot for stylish women with their own unique flair. Undeniable has lots of pieces that won’t turn up at your local Macy’s and it (smartly) uses social media to show them off. New arrivals include lots of holiday plums, chenille, and a cute little black dress with a festive bow. 2920 District Ave., Ste. 140, Fairfax

Lemoncello Boutique

Lemoncello is a family-owned and operated shop that sells women’s and baby’s clothing, accessories, and home gifts. It was recently voted one of the top boutiques in Arlington. If you’re looking for fun holiday finds, the shop sells lots of unique ornaments, funny cocktail napkins, holiday headbands, and homemade chocolates and candy. 4518 Lee Hwy., Arlington

3 Sisters

3 Sisters is indeed run by three sisters, Stella, Athina, and Stavroulla. They grew up working alongside their mother (who is a refugee) in her retail store. They credit their mom with teaching them that you don’t necessarily have to spend a lot of money to look great, and they’ve created an affordable boutique. In the shop’s “What’s New” section, you’ll find perfect options for your holiday getaway. 213 King St., Alexandria

The Nest Egg Fairfax

This locally owned retail store in Fairfax sells home furnishings and other gifts. If furniture isn’t on your list this year, the shop is a great place to grab one-of-a-kind gifts like colorful mugs, a whimsical cheese board and plate set, and leopard print coolers. Their collection of cookbooks and puzzles is worth checking out, too. 11940 Grand Commons Ave., Fairfax

Happy Place

If you’re feeling a little down or know someone who needs that extra boost, visit Happy Place in Alexandria. Its bright, sequined aesthetic is perfect for the teen, ‘tween, or even college-aged daughter or niece on your gift list. There are glittery stockings, crossbody gingerbread man bags, and much more. It’s worth it just to stop by for the Home Alone-themed wrapping paper. 105 S. Union St., Alexandria

K. Aubrey Flowers

Founded nearly 30 years ago, K. Aubrey Flowers has been founder Kevin A. Canfield’s place to showcase his vision and passion for all things floral. Every holiday celebration needs a beautiful centerpiece and K. Aubrey has lots of seasonal options. If you’re planning a larger-scale event, Canfield has created gorgeous designs for lots of large-scale occasions (all showcased on the website). 1401 King St., Alexandria

Gift and Gather

This woman-owned gift shop in Occoquan is ideal for a true small-town shopping feel. Usa Leckenby founded the business five years ago to support the local DC metro area artist community. Gift and Gather showcases local artisans’ jewelry, pottery, stationery, and more. The shop is also the flagship store for Pure Palette, a soy candle company. 307 Mill St., Occoquan

Angry Millennial Designs

This crafty Alexandra-based millennial doesn’t have a brick-and-mortar space, but she has Etsy and Redbubble storefronts. If you’re born between 1980 and 1995 or have friends or family that age, check out this shop for everything you need for quirky and witty gifts like stickers that say “Mansplain this sticker” and a pin that reads “This bitch votes.” [email protected]

One More Page

When you need a gift for the bookworm in your life, look no further than One More Page. The local independent bookshop is a cozy spot straight out of a Hallmark holiday movie. It sells wine and chocolates, too, making it a one-stop shop for the perfect book, bottle of wine, and box of chocolates. One More Page also sells other trinkets like candles, totes, socks, and mugs. 2200 N. Westmoreland St., Arlington

Dandelion Boho

Bohemians will adore the hippie chic styles at Dandelion Boho. The natural fabrics are soft, flowy, and comfy. Fall finds include lots of dark colors and fabrics, slouchy beanies and belts, and more. Don’t forget to pair them with the perfect boots, too. 2501 John Eppes Rd., Unit 400, Herndon
