These Local Stationery Shops Have the Best Selection of Paper Goods

With handwritten notes back in, these stores are here to help find all of you stationery needs.

By Michele Kettner August 18, 2022 at 5:23 pm

Whoever said the art of letter writing was dead was seriously mistaken. When the pandemic cut off pretty much all in-person contact, what seemed like an extinct way to communicate started to make a comeback. And with the practice here to stay, you’ll want to stock up on quirky accessories, colorful pens, and plenty of envelopes from these local stationery shops.

Erin Condren

Fairfax is home to one of only three Erin Condren storefronts, so it’s definitely a must-visit when you’re at the Mosaic District. In addition to the store’s brightly colored accessories and planners, the designated stationery section has fun designs to make sure your notes and letters stand out from the crowd. 2905 District Ave., Ste. 135, Fairfax

Hitchcock Paper Co

If you’ve stopped in Occoquan for one reason or another, you might have missed this quaint stationery shop. Overlooking the river, this store not only has great views, but also a wide selection of high-quality paper products. With almost 100 different brands in store — carrying everything from arts and crafts supplies to eye-popping journals and notebooks — you’ll always find the latest and trendiest supplies. 125 Mill St., Ste. 6, Occoquan

Penny Post

Whether you are in need of birthday cards, stamps, or colorful pens and pencils, this Alexandria shop likely has what you’re looking for. Opening back in 2017, this Old Town paper goods store is there to make sure you and your friends and family stay connected no matter what life throws at you. 1201 King St., Alexandria
