Visiting Leesylvania State Park during the summer is a tradition for many Northern Virginians. This year, you’ll need to get your summer plans in order as the Virginia State Park will require reservations for weekend visitors.
The change will take place starting early summer 2026 in order to “help with overcrowding, ease traffic, and protect the park’s natural resources,” according to the park’s website. Visits on state holidays will also require a reservation. Reservations will be required from May until September and are $2. The $10 parking fee will still apply at the gate.
No day-of reservations will be available in order for the park to plan for staffing and traffic mitigation. All reservations need to be made no later than 11:59 p.m. the day before your planned visit. Visitors can make up to five reservations per person.
Guests without a reservation will not be allowed entrance into the park, except for overnight campers and paid boat storage users. This includes annual pass holders and guests with handicap tags.
Located in Woodbridge, Leesylvania State Park has become a go-to spot for land and water activities.
Throughout the year, visitors can take a hike on one of the park’s five trails, go fishing on the pier, or take a boat or kayak ride along the Potomac River. 2001 Daniel K. Ludwig Dr., Woodbridge
