Alexandria’s Pork Barrel BBQ Hosts Crooked Beat Records Pop-Up

The local record shop was recently forced to close due to flooding.

Crooked Beat Records is getting a boost from a neighboring business. On Saturday, February 7, Pork Barrel BBQ is hosting a Crooked Beat pop-up event from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

A burst pipe sent several inches of water into the Mount Vernon Avenue store last month. The flooding caused major damage to records and equipment and forced the Del Ray shop to close on January 31.

The Pork Barrel pop-up will feature Crooked Beat merchandise, and the restaurant is also offering a special fundraiser beer; proceeds will go towards the store’s flood recovery fund.

“Thanks to @porkbarrelbar for hosting us and offering a beer special to support our flood recovery fund,” the store posted on Facebook. The post said that Crooked Beat owner Bill Daly, “will be playing tunes, and the team will be on hand for record and t-shirt sales.”

While the Del Ray storefront has closed, Daly looks to find a new permanent home nearby. Until then, Crooked Beat plans on hosting more events like Saturday’s pop-up.
