Telecomm company AT&T is setting up shop in Fairfax, the county’s Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) announced. AT&T’s new regional hub is in a five-story, 111,000-square-foot office building in Chantilly at the Westfields International Center at Dulles.

AT&T’s President for Public Sector & FirstNet Wes Anderson, Fairfax County leaders, and FCEDA members attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Chantilly hub last week. More than 500 AT&T team members will occupy the space.

“Thank you to our Fairfax County leaders and first responders. From streamlined permitting to being a trusted collaborator in testing new technologies, Fairfax has been a model partner,” Anderson said in a release. “I look forward to what we can achieve together as we start this new chapter in Chantilly, Virginia.”

Jeff McKay, chair of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, attended the ribbon-cutting. “Today is a celebration of growth, vision, and partnership,” he said. “Fairfax County is proud to support AT&T’s continued evolution and success, and we are grateful for the longstanding relationship we’ve built together.”

The news comes on the heels of the FCEDA announcing last week that German defense contractor Rheinmetall’s two U.S. subsidiaries are moving to Fairfax. American Rheinmetall Defense Inc. and American Rheinmetall Munitions Inc. will occupy nearly 10,000 square feet of office space at Park Tower Drive in Merrifield.
