Driver in Cybertruck, Lamborghini Street Race Sentenced to Jail Time

The Sterling man was sentenced for racing a Lamborghini against a Cybertruck in Tysons last October.

Carlos Montero, 38, of Sterling, was sentenced on July 31 to 90 days in jail for racing a Lamborghini alongside a Cybertruck in Tysons last October. A judge suspended 85 days of the 90-day sentence, so Montero will serve five days in jail.

He was also fined $750 for reckless driving, and an additional $200 for a highway traffic infraction.

Montero and the driver of the Cybertruck, Christian Camacho, 48, of Vienna, were both convicted of misdemeanor reckless driving in March. Camacho’s sentencing hearing was continued until August 28.

Camacho and Montero were seen street racing a Cybertruck and Lamborghini near Westwood Center Drive and Leesburg Pike in Tysons Center. The race video was posted on X and shared by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and received more than 150 million views.

In the video, a “flagger” can be heard yelling “You guys ready?” before the two vehicles took off in a race. The Cybertruck pulls ahead of the Lamborghini, then both vehicles appear to stop when they approach stopped traffic on the road. The race lasted approximately five seconds.

“This reckless behavior attracted a lot of online attention — I hope the consequences do as well,” said Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano. “Plain and simple: street racing is dangerous, it needlessly puts the lives of others at risk, and it has no place on the highways and roads that you and your family frequent.”
