Score a Free Krispy Kreme Doughnut Today

No Real ID is required for this sweet deal.

By Debbie Williams May 7, 2025 at 10:27 am

The deadline for getting your Real ID for domestic travel is here. Starting Wednesday, May 7, you will be required to show a Real ID license at U.S. airports to board a domestic flight. The updated license will also be mandatory to enter certain federal facilities, including military bases.

If you’re stressing about upgrading your ID before upcoming travel, Krispy Kreme wants to help. The store is offering a sweet treat for those who don’t have a Real ID — and for those who do.

Participating Krispy Kreme shops are offering a free original glazed doughnut all day today. The offer is good at in-shop and drive-thru locations.

No purchase is necessary, and no ID is necessary to redeem the deal, Real ID or otherwise. There is a limit to one free Krispy Kreme doughnut per guest.

Krispy Kreme says, “On May 7th, you’ll need a Real ID to take to the skies, but not to get your hands on something sweet.” And that “delicious should always be easy.”

Real-ID Pop-Ups

And if you’d like to skip the DMV to apply for your Real ID, there are still two pop-up events happening in Northern Virginia. VFW Post 8469 in Fairfax and Howell Branch Library in Fredericksburg are offering appointments. The services are part of the DMV Connects program.
