19-Year-Old Ashburn Man Charged with Murder of Teen Found in Harris Teeter Parking Lot

The alleged shooter was reportedly out on bond at the time of the incident.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) announced on Monday that it had made an arrest in the recent shooting death of a 16-year-old male. Fadlalla Mohamed, 19, of Ashburn was arrested and charged with first degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

On April 12, LCSO responded to a call about an injured 16-year-old male. He was found in an SUV parked in front of the Harris Teeter in Southern Walk Plaza.

The incident was first reported as a stabbing, but it was later determined that it was a shooting. Deputies found that another individual had transported the victim to the Harris Teeter parking lot. That individual is not considered a suspect. The 16-year-old was pronounced dead from his injuries. His name has not been released, but News4 reported that he was a student at Riverside High School in Leesburg.

Shooting Incident

Court documents obtained by News4 state that a 17-year-old drove the 16-year-old victim to an apartment complex on Hillmont Terrace for a prearranged drug deal. Detectives say Mohamed pulled out a weapon and shot the victim without warning.

LCSO took Mohamed into custody Monday afternoon in Leesburg. He is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.

“This was a brutal crime and is a tragedy for this young man’s family,” Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman said in a statement. “I am proud of the many deputies, detectives, analysts and others who worked around-the-clock to identify the suspect, then locate and arrest him. The arrest of a suspect in less than 24 hours is a tribute to their diligence and skills, and to the use of state-of-the-art technologies to identify and locate Mohamed.”

Ashburn Man Arrested Was Out on Bond

FOX5 reported that Mohamed was apparently out on a $1,000 unsecured bond in another case. On February 16, he was charged with having sex with a minor and was awaiting an October 1 hearing. Records obtained by FOX5 show Mohamed had also been previously charged with eluding police and reckless driving endangering life.

The LCSO continues to investigate the shooting and other persons who may have been involved. Anyone with information should contact LCSO Detective Joseph Whitehead at 703-777-1021. Those who would like to remain anonymous can call Loudoun County Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919. Or you can submit a tip through the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office app.
