The 18-year-old wanted by Fairfax County police in connection with a deadly shooting in the McNair area of Herndon on Wednesday turned himself in on Thursday.
Ismael Cruz-Delcid of Herndon turned himself in at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, police said.
The police department had been actively searching for Cruz-Delcid since the Wednesday afternoon shooting in the 13700 block of Coppermine Road. That’s where police said the teen pulled out a gun and fired at least three times at two other teens with whom he had been in an altercation.
One of the teens died after being shot in the upper body. The second teen was not hurt. Police typically do not release the names of juveniles who are killed.
Police on Thursday said they had obtained two warrants for Cruz-Delcid. One warrant was for second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for the Wednesday shooting. The other, obtained by the Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau, was for distribution of cocaine.
