Fairfax County police hope you can help them solve a feathery crime committed by a man they have dubbed the “bird bandit.” The crime is a strong-armed robbery. The suspect: A man wearing a black cowboy hat who had three live parrots with him.

Police said he held up a McDonald’s on Arlington Boulevard in Seven Corners with a knife around 8 a.m. Wednesday. He got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

He’s described as a Hispanic man between the ages of 28 and 32 with tattoos. At the time of the crime, he also was wearing a patterned shirt. The birds are believed to be macaws. He left the area in a blue Ford SUV, police said.

Police released this video from a nearby 7-Eleven:

Anybody with information on the “bird bandit” is asked to call the Mason Police District Criminal Investigations Division at 703-256-8035. Or you can call in your tip anonymously through Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (866-411-8477).
