The Washington Commanders are offering fans a preview of the team’s new stadium. In a release, the Commanders said the new design is “inspired by the iconic RFK Stadium.”
The seating angles and stadium’s roof and bowl are designed to capture crowd noise and push it back down toward the field. The goal is to create one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL.
“Every aspect of the design is intended to amplify the energy and intensity of the crowd, create an immersive shared viewing experience, and bring fans closer to the action,” said Commanders team president Mark Clouse. “Through innovative technology and acoustics designed to maximize crowd energy, the stadium will deliver one of the loudest environments in sports while reflecting the character and pride of the District.”
The first row is also elevated above the playing surface for unobstructed views over the sideline. And a section called the “wall” with offer more affordable, fan-friendly seating.
The Commanders released conceptual renderings of the exterior of the new stadium in June. The facility is being built to accommodate up to 70,000 people.
Stadium construction is anticipated to be completed in 2030. The team is offering 2026 season ticket holders priority access to season tickets at the new stadium when they become available.
