Winter is (finally) coming to a close, and spring offerings across the region are making their way back, including rides on the Potomac Water Taxi.
The iconic yellow vessels will be navigating the waterways once again come Sunday, March 1 through the end of the year, traveling between DC, Maryland and Virginia, with operations to and from The Wharf, Georgetown, Alexandria and the National Harbor.
Water Taxi will be adding increased peak time service between Alexandria and DC, following the 50% increase in ridership it saw over the last year. In addition, it will also be offering a new service for riders to “beat the crowds for key happenings,” including service to Diamond Teague Park for access to Nationals Park and Audi Field, and sightseeing tours during the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
Throughout the year, services will operate daily from morning until night, rain or shine. Regular schedules will provide up to 10 daily departures per location during peak season, including hourly services on the route to and from The Wharf, Alexandria and National Harbor.
The company will also continue to offer the narrated sightseeing tour that showcases DC’s landmarks and monuments, which operates daily and costs $18 one-way per adult. Round-trip tickets to Mount Vernon begin on Friday, March 6 and cost $50 per adult.
This year’s ticket prices are $13 one-way for adults and $9 one-way for children; two-day passes are offered for $31 to $40; and for frequent travelers, the 2020 Water Taxi pass costs $295.
