Glencarlyn Childcare Center set to close; VA to conduct annual statewide tornado drill

Virginia Hospital Center is preparing to close Glencarlyn Childcare Center, in exchange for gaining control over a piece of land at 1800 N. Edison Street as part of the hospital’s expansion plans. (ArlNow)

State emergency management officials will conduct Virginia’s annual statewide tornado drill on March 19 at 9:45 a.m. Local radio stations, TV stations and cable outlets will broadcast the test message via the Emergency Alert System. (WTOP)

Gov. Ralph Northam issues his first veto of the year on Tuesday. The veto blocks a bill that would have granted out-of-state residents a temporary concealed carry permit if Virginia State Police did not complete their review of an application within 90 days. (WTOP)
