General Assembly looks to repeal Kings Dominion law; 2018 rain increased Chesapeake Bay pollution

Virginia’s General Assembly is taking a look at the “Kings Dominion Law,” regarding the start of the school year, during its current session. Lawmakers are hoping to repeal the bill that requires school districts to start after Labor Day (unless granted a waiver) and instead allow schools to start their year whenever they want.

All of the rain that we had in 2018 impacted the Chesapeake Bay, according to a new report. From the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s biennial report, the record rainfall was a factor in the increased pollution in the bay.
