Verizon and media company Tegna have reached a multiyear carriage agreement that will return Tegna’s broadcast channels, which includes CBS affiliate WUSA, to DMV Verizon customers. WUSA, as well as other Tegna stations across the country, went dark earlier this week for Verizon customers due to the dispute.

The Prince William School Board is continuing to study a major redistricting proposal that would impact 16 elementary schools, with a work session set for Thursday, Jan. 10. The redistricting plan is meant to help deal with the overcrowding issues at Prince William schools, but current plans are facing opposition from parents.

NoVA residents can now walk safely from Alexandria to Tysons, if they so choose, with the opening of a new stretch of sidewalk. The sidewalk, on either side of Route 7 and Route 123 is open to walkers and bikers and helps connect pedestrians to the Greensboro Metro station.

Metro is eliminating parking fees on Saturdays at its facilities. The pilot program that started last year and charged $2 for weekend parking has been scrapped, Metro announced. Fees may still apply if there is a major event.
