Snow hits southern parts of Northern Virginia; Mark Herring announces 2021 governor bid

Northern Virginia’s daily dose of local and national news for Monday, Dec. 10.

Sunday night brought snow to the southern parts of Northern Virginia, resulting in dangerous road conditions. Schools in Prince William, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg City, Culpeper and Orange County have been canceled.

The Interstate 66 tolls have now been in place for a year, and a Washington Post report indicates that the cost of tolls has pushed the rush hour traffic to later hours, as drivers are waiting to start their commutes until after the toll hours end.

Police are seeking information to help identify a suspect in a stabbing of a woman that occurred Saturday night near the Marine Corps Memorial in Rosslyn. The suspect fled the scene on foot; the victim was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
