American Legion Post to become affordable housing for vets; Alexandria group walks for pedestrian safety

The American Legion Post 139 in Arlington has been sold to an affordable housing agency and converted into an apartment building with 160 apartments, half of which will be reserved for military veterans.

On Sunday, a group of people participated in an organized walk from Potomac River and Market Square in Alexandria to call attention to people who have died or been injured in pedestrian and cycling crashes. The walk was organized by Alexandria Families for Safe Streets, who are hoping to change infrastructure and policy in Alexandria.

Lost Boy Cider has announced that it will be setting up shop in Alexandria, offering bottled, canned or kegs of cider brewed from apples on the Virginia Ciderworks Co.’s farm in southern Virginia.

Fredericksburg City Council voted to spend $140,000 in Virginia Department of Transportation funds to build and install a bridge over a creek to connect and expand the Virginia Central Railway Trail out to Interstate 95.
