NoVA participating in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day; Metro approves food and drink sales at stations

Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, and Fairfax, Fredericksburg and Alexandria are all planning on participating. To find out where you can return your old and unused prescriptions check out the links below.

On Thursday, Metro approved the sale of food and drinks on Metro property anywhere outside the areas of the Metrorail system that riders must pay to access. In addition to vending machines and other food related opportunities, this will allow Metro staff to permit other commercial activity.

The jury in the Ronald Hamilton case was deadlocked over the sentencing of Hamilton for killing his wife and a Prince William police officer. As a result, Hamilton will be sentenced to life in prison without parole.

The Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority is now seeking contractors for its planned $60 million upgrades to Concourse C/D at Dulles International Airport. The work, which includes replacing skylights, pavement rehabilitation, mechanical and electrical work and more, could begin as early as spring 2019.

Three Tuscarora High School students have been charged with sexual battery and assault and battery for an incident that occurred in the school’s locker room earlier this month.

Fire Station #7 in Fairlington is being temporarily relocated due to structural and safety concerns. The station will be out of service until renovations can be completed; Fire Station #9, Fire Station 203, Fire Station 206 and Fire Station 410 will take over the area previously covered by Fire Station #7, while the stations firefights will transfer to Fire Station #4 in Clarendon.
