Attorney General blames Purdue Pharma for opioid crisis; Sen. Mark Warner shares impressions of Bristow facility for migrant children

Wednesday, Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring filed a lawsuit against Purdue Pharma, claiming that the company is responsible for creating the opioid crisis. Herring says that Purdue Pharma violated the Virginia Consumer Protection Act by lying about “the purported safety, efficacy and benefits of its opioids, including OxyContin.”

Wednesday, Sen. Mark Warner toured Bristow’s Youth for Tomorrow facility, after which point he spoke positively of the environment, citing its cleanliness and saying that the migrant children being held there are getting health care and being educated.

Thursday, to honor the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI, Arlington’s World War I Commemoration Task Force and the Arlington Historical Society will host an “Arlington Remembers the Great War” event featuring music from Opera NOVA and a film about WWI by Arlington Independent Media. The event will take place from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Navy League Atrium.
