Two Manassas men facing hate crime charges; Arlington dubbed most fit U.S. city

Monday afternoon, Jimmy Lynn Greer and Dustin David Greer pulled their pickup truck in front of a 35-year-old man of Middle Eastern descent and told him “go back to your country” and “you don’t belong here.” One of the Greers got out of the truck and assaulted the man, then the Greers proceeded to follow the man onto Interstate 66. The man pulled into a Manassas Safety Rest Area and Welcome Center where he was able to call 911. The Greers fled before police arrived.

On April 22 along the Washington and Old Dominion Trail, a cyclist stuck out his arm and hit a passing cyclist’s helmet, sending the victim to the hospital with serious injuries. The man who stuck out his arm, Vienna resident Edward A. Shortnacy, was recently arrested and charged with malicious wounding, having been found through witness interviews and the STRAVA fitness app.
