NoVA counties demand transportation attention; Kilauea volcano could expel boulders, ash in another explosion

Wednesday, individuals from an assortment of NoVA counties showed up in Mount Vernon to tell representatives from the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority that their area has transportation needs that must be met. The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority, which has said they have a list of 60 project proposals that would total $2.5 billion but only have $1.285 billion available, will hold an open house Thursday, May 10, at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory warned that the Kilauea volcano could explode again, sending 10-20 ton boulders and ash flying through the air.

On March 15, Prince William police found the body of a man in a burning car at Veterans Park in Woodbridge. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Santos Arquimidis Sorto Amaya, who investigators suspect was abducted by MS-13 gang members in front of his home, shot repeatedly and then shoved into the trunk of a car that the gang members set on fire.

honeygrow, a fast-casual concept offering stir-fry, salads, a honeybar and more will open in Reston on May 11. At its grand opening, $5 of every stir-fry or salad order will be donated to the nonprofit Back on My Feet, which helps homeless individuals transition back into society.
