Despite complaints, Reagan National’s noisier flight patterns remain; Seattle man sent government facilities ‘suspicious packages’

Tuesday, a federal appeals court, claiming that area residents did not submit their complaints about Reagan National Airport’s noisier flight patterns soon enough, ruled in favor of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The court did say, however, that the FAA did not “model a sound agency practice” when alerting residents of their intention to change flight patterns.

Government agencies in the area, Fort Belvoir and the FBI headquarters among them,  received over a dozen suspicious packages containing letters discussing mind control, terrorism and neuropsychology. The packages were sent by a man in the Seattle area who has since been arrested.

The General Assembly approved a bill that would lower taxes paid by the Washington Golf and Country Club and the Army Navy Country Club. The bill is now in the hands of Gov. Ralph Northam. The Arlington County Board sent Northam a letter on Tuesday asking that he veto the bill as it would cost the county millions.

Virginia’s Devils Backbone brewery is once again releasing its Earned Run Ale, the state’s only beer brewed specifically for the Washington Nationals. The ale was served on draft at Nationals Park’s Left Field Lounge last year and this year will be distributed in cans and sold at area retailers.
