Cleared sections of Prince William Forest Park to reopen today; Teenage man rescued after jumping into Potomac River

Though there are parts of Prince William Forest Park still recovering from the windstorm on March 2, the Piedmont Forest, Birch Bluff, and Crossings trails; Laurel Trail Loop; Pine Grove and Telegraph picnic areas; cabin camps (for permit-holders); and the visitor center will reopen at 9 a.m. today.

The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, Fairfax County officials, and the U.S. Park Police assisted in the rescue of a teenage man who intentionally jumped into the Potomac River near Great Falls.

Sunday at 8:30 p.m., an explosion occurred in Travis Country, an Austin, Texas residential area. The blast injured two people who were taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. This is the fourth explosion to occur in the area in recent weeks, and police are trying to determine if this one is related to three previous package explosions.
