A proposal by Georgia Republican Jody Hice to change the name of Gravelly Point Park, situated next to Reagan National Airport, to honor Nancy Reagan has been met with opposition from Arlington County political leaders. Arlington Rep. Don Beyer has expressed that though he does not necessarily oppose Nancy Reagan, he takes issue with someone from another state attempting to make changes in someone else’s district.

Members of Virginia’s Republican Party central committee are in the process of drafting a petition and obtaining a two-thirds vote from members to forcibly remove Fredy Burgos, who serves on the Fairfax County party committee, from office. Reasons for removal include Burgos’ controversial comments about Muslims, immigrants and Jewish people.

In an attempt to sell off federal assets, President Donald Trump has proposed selling Dulles International Airport and Reagan National Airport to some sort of public or private entity. Both airports are owned by the federal government but are leased and run by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.

In one half-mile radius around Herndon last Wednesday and Thursday, 17 cars (eight in the 13100 block of Fox Hunt Lane, eight from the 2300 block of Rolling Fork Circle and one in the 1200 block of Rolling Fork Circle) had parts stolen. The incidents are still under investigation.
