A woman was shot and killed in a Fredericksburg apartment complex on Thursday and the man suspected of shooting her, her husband, led police on a chase along I-95 in Stafford County. The suspect fired at officers before shooting himself in the head and crashing his SUV. The man is in critical condition at Fairfax Inova Hospital.

Tuesday, Taiwan’s state media announced that 200,000 passports were printed with an image of Dulles International Airport where an image of Taoyuan International Airport should have been. Taoyuan International Airport was reportedly “influenced” by Dulles’ design and the two are said to resemble one another.

This year’s New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square will take some of the greatest security measures the event has seen to-date, adding “vapor wake” dogs to the typical presence of snipers, bag inspections and metal detectors. 125 nearby car garages will be cleared out and sealed off ahead of the evening’s festivities to ensure that no car bombs can be placed.

Thursday afternoon, an Arlington bomb squad investigated a mysterious packed situated near Reagan National Airport’s Baggage Claim 9 in the arrivals area, shutting down that section of the airport. Following the investigation, the package was deemed harmless and the area was reopened.
