Airports Authority warns of Reagan National construction traffic; Fairfax student pulled from chair for not standing during pledge

Not long after ringing in 2018, traffic at Reagan National Airport will kick up significantly. In a recent release, the Airports Authority recommends that travelers make use of two temporary lanes and use Metro when possible.

It has been more than a year since 15-year-old Eric Trammel, a sophomore at Centreville High School, has stood for the Pledge of Allegiance. But in November, Trammel was pulled from his chair and thrown out of the classroom by one of his teachers after refusing to stand, prompting Fairfax County Public Schools to let the accused teacher go.

Akayed Ullah, a 27-year-old immigrant from Bangladesh, strapped a pipe bomb to himself and detonated the device in a Manhattan subway on Monday morning. Ullah, who said that he was inspired by ISIS propaganda, burned and cut his hands and abdomen. Three commuters went to the hospital with headaches and ringing in their ears, but were otherwise unharmed.

After allowing Uber and Lyft to transport airport passengers in 2015, Washington Flyer cab use has significantly dropped. Wednesday, the Airports Authority will vote on a new Washington Flyer contract that would potentially cut the number of cabs serving Dulles Airport to 600.
