Taking a cue from the success of “Fifty Shades of Grey,” Ariel Atwell debuts the first in her steamy and erotic Cavanaugh trilogy. Catherine Corvedale, Countess of Bewleton, is left with massive debt when her husband dies. Her only hope is to seek financial backing from James Cavanaugh, her late husband’s cousin and a past love. Cavanaugh proposes a plan: He will pay off all her debts if she signs a contract to be his for seven days. (March 2015)

One house holds the promise of new life in Sarah McCoy’s “The Mapmaker’s Children,” set in two time periods. Eden Anderson, a woman so desperate to have a child it comes at the cost of her marriage, moves to New Charleston, West Virginia, in 2014. In the late 1800s, the New Charleston home brings the hope of a free life as the Hill family, with the help of John Brown’s daughter Sarah, moves slaves through the Underground Railroad. (May 2015)
