Folk-rock powerhouse singer Brandi Carlile kicks off the concert series at The Barns this fall. Combining country, soul and rock ’n’ roll, Carlile’s Pin Drop Tour is named so for being completely unplugged—no amps, no mics. Rolling Stone Magazine praises her “raw, rugged voice,” and American Songwriter calls her voice “red-blooded and clarion clear.” / Oct. 6 & 7

Experience a night of fantastic mystery and horror presented by Artisphere. The event stars Cardone, the Ultimate Vaudeville Magician, who mystifies audiences with magic, ventriloquism, illusion, mind-reading and more. This classic spooks show resurrects the ghouls and terrors that inhabit your wildest dreams—or nightmares. / Oct. 11

 

3“Wuthering  Heights”
One of the most compelling tales in all of literature, Aquila Theatre brings the written word to life with its production of “Wuthering Heights.” This classic tale of passion, revenge and the supernatural opens up the Halloween season at the George Mason University’s Center for the Arts. The performance is directed by Desiree Sanchez and stars James Lavender and Kali Hughes. / Oct. 5

Enjoy an evening of wine-tasting at Mount Vernon, where live blues and a riverside view await. Guests sample wine from 16 Virginia wineries and experience an evening tour of George and Martha Washington’s home, including the basement in which they stored their wine. / Oct. 3–5
