 The “Chariot” and “Not Over You” singer and Grammy-nominated songwriter takes a break from opening for Billy Joel to perform his latest album “Make a Move,” a blend of pop, rock and soul. Matt Nathanson (“Come on Get Higher”) and Andrew McMahon (“Jack’s Mannequin”) join DeGraw. / August 10

One-on-one conversations with winemakers and wine seminars exploring pairings are the heart of this two-day wine and food festival. Labor Day weekend rounds out with food dinners at local wineries and whiskey pairings at Magnolias at the Mill in Purcellville.  / Aug. 29-Sept. 1

 

31940s Party
Hollywood glamour and 1940s fashion center this evening of music and dancing, beginning with a red carpet entrance. Cocktails from Catoctin Creek Distilling Company, wine by Fabbioli Cellars and Willowcroft Vinery and food by Magonlias at the Mill are paired with big band swing music by Doc Scantlin’s Palmettos. / August 30

4‘Sunday in the Park with George’
Inspired by Georges Seurat’s painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte,” this musical spans generations telling the story of love, life and art. From grandfather to 1980s grandson, Signature Theatre’s “signature” playwright Stephen Sondheim kicks off the 25th anniversary season with “Sunday in the Park with George.”  / Aug. 5-Sept. 21

5Virginia Scottish Games and Festival
Don a kilt or maybe just plaid, and watch as professional Scottish athletes compete in Highland games. The 41st annual festival also includes bagpipes, Highland dancers and whiskey tasting. Furry friends are welcome as well with West Highland Terriers and Border Collies on display all weekend. / 8/30-31
