Every year, NoVA seems to get more extravagant with its Christmas decorations — and we’re here for it. From animated light shows to inflatable characters, these 11 home displays are lighting up Northern Virginia’s neighborhoods and spreading holiday cheer.

So long string lights, hello holiday projects. The Paradise Family’s annual light show will amaze light lovers. Starting December 12, the family will debut its new show for 2024, classic holiday films. Expect to see clips from The Polar Express, Elf, Christmas Vacation, and more. The show is on daily through January 1.
1601 Collingwood Rd., Alexandria
After being dark for four years, the previous winner of Great Christmas Light Fight is bringing back the holiday spirit. Set to turn on starting December 15, this light display doesn’t waste a single inch of the property, with lights and figures on every inch of the yard, trees, and house.

Woodlea Hills Lights
More than 28,000 lights will twinkle and dance across the yard of this Leesburg home. The animated light show syncs to 10 holiday songs throughout the night, from “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey to the Frozen hit, “Let It Go” by Idina Menzel. You might even see a few special characters pop up for a performance. 607 Hillview Pl. SW, Leesburg
Ni Family Lights
A light show that changes every night? We’re in! With different playlists set throughout the holiday season, you can (and should) catch multiple shows throughout the month. Each playlist is between 14 and 19 minutes, and syncs with the lights, trees, screens, and arches in the yard. Starting December 9, you can catch the two newest playlists. 2528 Drexel St., Vienna

417 Gatepost Ct., Purcellville
Minions assemble! From old to young, everyone will get a kick out of this minion-filled yard. The Purcellville home is planning on adding even more inflatables, so stop by to get in on the despicable holiday fun.
38263 Nixon Rd., Purcellville
This drive-thru residential light show will wow your whole carload of family and friends. Head down the long driveway to catch the synchronized show up close. The driveway loops around the front yard, so you won’t miss any part of the display.
21260 Rosetta Pl., Ashburn
This home is adding the bright to “merry and bright” this holiday season. Ninety-thousand-pixel lights make up this illuminating display. It’s set to music too, so expect to be mesmerized by the number of lights, but also the movement throughout the display.

40976 Maplehurst Dr., Aldie
This home has switched out its spooky Halloween décor for something a little more festive. It’s like a scavenger hunt moving through all of the different decorations and characters featured in the yard (and on the roof). While your eye catches the 12-foot Grinch and Jack Skellington, make sure to keep looking to find Olaf, Nemo, and, most importantly, Santa Claus.
7302 Rhondda Dr., Lorton
This yard may be little, but it sure does pack a punch. The townhouse is covered with bright, colorful lights from top to bottom. You’ll find fan-favorite characters sprinkled throughout the yard, including handmade figures of The Grinch, Bumble, and the Tasmanian Devil. If you visit on a wind-free night, a yard full of inflatables will spread the holiday cheer.
409 E. Nelson Ave., Alexandria
You’ll get feelings of nostalgia when you pull up to the adorable yard. Classic blow molds, icicles, tinsel bring you back Christmases past. Hiding between the bushes is a makeshift ice rink with the Peanuts gang. Donations provided will go towards the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.
Marshall Pond Christmas Village
Nothing brings neighbors together quite like the holidays. The seven homes that make up the cul-de-sac turn the street into its own Christmas village. Park your car at the top of the road and enjoy a nighttime walk to view all of the details that bring this village together, from the candy canes to the gnomes and life-size characters.
