If you’re looking for more than jack-o-lanterns and scarecrows, visit the houses that have some of the best Halloween decorations across Northern Virginia.

Haunting of Yacht Haven
Only the brave can make it through this walkthrough. This Alexandria house features 150 animatronics that surround every step as you navigate the winding trail. Creepy clowns, snarling werewolves, and sinister witches are just a few of the monsters and ghouls you’ll need to look out for when the sun goes down. The display is off when it rains, so double-check the forecast before heading out. 4401 Dolphin Ln., Alexandria

The Curse of the Dead Rose
This pirate-themed yard isn’t just for looks because the display (seen above) also acts as a haunted house. Created using handmade props, the interactive display will be open from 7 to 10 p.m. October 25, 26, and 31. For those not looking for a scare, stop by on October 27 to check out all the little details without the worry of jump scares. 122 Hopeland Ln., Sterling

Sterling Spooky Skeleton Shack

The Historic Herndon Halloween House
This annual display is going to be out of this world, literally. The closer we get to Halloween, the more aliens, flying saucers, and spaceships you’ll see invade the space alien-themed display. This season, The Historic Herndon House teamed up with The Beastro at Queens Row to create the ultimate space display, and invites others to join the space invasion. 610 Spring St., Herndon

Ferry Farm Skeletons
The ever-changing display is sure to put a smile on your face. The crazy skeletons that make up the Falmouth display are constantly changing. Throughout the week, you’ll find different scenes on the front lawn, from a game of “the floor is lava” to scenes from Ghostbusters and The Addams Family. Its Facebook page is updated with the new creations, so you don’t have to miss a single setup. 11 Pendleton Rd., Falmouth

807 MacAlister Dr. SE, Leesburg
Every twist and turn of this lawn is filled with spooks. Stand your ground as you pass the 12-foot-tall giants at the front. Through the gates and spider-filled arch you go for a personal concert with Wednesday Addams and Cousin It — and some candy, of course. The home is collecting food donations for the Tree of Life Ministries, Leesburg food pantry. Visitors should park on the street and walk to the display. 807 MacAlister Dr. SE, Leesburg
