White-linen culinary affair Le Dîner en Blanc is coming back to DC this year.
As is customary with the fête, the location remains a mystery for now, but it will return from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on September 9.
The napkin-twirl start and the sparkler finish will remain, but “this year’s DC event will bring back authentic Le Dîner en Blanc customs that originated back in Paris more than 35 years ago,” according to a news release.
That means entertainers and musicians will make their way through the venue and “perform one-on-one” over the course of the event.
The legendary event promises more surprises.
“Le Dîner en Blanc is a sophisticated, community happening that has many organic roots that have taken a back seat through the years,” Linda Davis, president of The Davis Group and co-producer of Le Dîner en Blanc-Washington, said in the release.
“We are seeking to bring culture and the true Paris concept back with an elevated experience that highlights performances by multiple entertainers, which allows the guests to commune with their neighbors and get to know people on a more intimate level.”
Instead of rushing to eat and move, “This year the entertainment will come to our guests — it’s an exciting change for us,” event partner and co-producer Kaitlin Latonick said.
Registration will be in three phases, according to the release. Tickets — $52 per person, plus a $14 membership fee — will open at the beginning of August. Dates will be announced next week. Information will be posted online.
Waiting list registrations are open now.
In the meantime, start shopping for that chic white outfit you’ll be wearing.
Le Dîner en Blanc marked its 30th anniversary in 2018, and last visited DC in 2021.
