It’s official: Captain Cookie & The Milkman has come to Northern Virginia, opening its first Virginia storefront in Arlington earlier this month. While the DC-born bake shop’s superhero theme might seem silly, its made-from-scratch goodies could save you from a down-in-the-dumps mood or a hankering for dessert. After all, who can resist the simple temptation of cookies and milk?

Opening its doors on February 10, the cookie shop can satisfy any sweet tooth craving almost any time of the day. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays to Wednesdays; 10 a.m. to midnight on Thursdays and Fridays; 11 a.m. to midnight on Saturdays; and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays.
Here, guests can look forward to not only a variety of flavors, but numerous ways to experience eating a cookie. The most famous item is the ice cream sandwich, which features locally-made ice cream sandwiched between your choice of cookies. It’s the crown jewel of this establishment’s menu for good reason. Additional menu items include cookie cakes, edible cookie dough, and bake at home dough kits. Customers can also look forward to new, seasonal flavors every month.

“Bringing Captain Cookie to Courthouse means we can put more smiles on more faces – by baking the best cookies for Arlington and serving up the highest quality local dairy, by having that personal interaction with each individual that can change the course of a day,” said owner Julian Francis in a recent news release. “It also means we have the privilege of building an empowered team of cookie crew members here and shining a light in the community right around us.”
Starting out as a food truck in 2012, Captain Cookie has expanded into four storefronts over the past decade, becoming a DC area favorite in the process. The company makes a conscious effort to give back to its community by donating profits to organizations, including the Capital Area Food Bank and No Kid Hungry.
The Arlington store is doing just the same, with 10 percent of every opening day sale benefitting the Arlington Food Assistance Center. In other words, the mission of “saving the world one cookie at a time” is alive and well at this new location. 2200 Clarendon Blvd., Arlington
