King Arthur Baking Company to Open in Alexandria

The shop will be the brand’s second location to include a baking school.

By Emily Perez July 7, 2026 at 11:02 am

The King Arthur Baking Company has officially announced the opening of its permanent store in Old Town, Alexandria. The shop is expected to open this fall at 617 King St.

This will be the company’s second location to include a store, baking school, and event space — and only store front in the region. The first was the brand’s flagship store in Norwich, Vermont. Classes will be available for all skill levels and run by King Arthur’s expert instructors.

Shoppers will be able to purchase ingredients, tools, appliances, baking mixes, and additional baking accessories. The store will also host birthday parties, private events, and community gatherings.

Pop-up Closings

The opening of Alexandria location comes after the recent closure of its pop-up store in Fairfax. The temporary shop — which opened in September 2024 — extended its stay twice until closing for good on June 26.

King Arthur also closed the doors to their Bethesda, Maryland pop-up shop in January.
